Push -Book Review

Standard

Push by Sapphire is the national bestselling novel which is now the major motion picture Precious. This is the story of a girl named Precious Jones, an illiterate sixteen-year-old that is raped by her father and beaten by her mother. But when she is pregnant with the second child of her fathers she meets a teacher determined to educate and enlighten Precious as she learns how to care of herself.

I’m not going to say I disliked this book, because I didn’t, it was very good. It just wasn’t great. Now I know almost everyone is going to jump up and complain, but I don’t know what it was about this novel, I just didn’t love it. Yes it’s a great story: brutal, hopeful, merciless; but it just wasn’t gripping. This book novel was well written but it wasn’t captivating. I would only suggest this book for someone who is interested in reading something like this: hopeful, but also quite sad.
