Winter’s Bone is the story of a teenager who goes to find her drug-dealing father for the law so she can keep her family intact.
This movie is nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture. Jennifer Lawrence is Ree, the seventeen year old taking care of her mother and two younger siblings. Lawrence was fantastic in this role, she showed the perfect emotion and hurt throughout the film but stayed strong as a necessity to find her father. John Hawkes plays Teardrop, Ree’s uncle, who looks after her because her father isn’t around and she’s his only family he has left. Although this movie was interesting and I was fascinated by the way these people live it is a slow going movie and not something that everyone would be interested in.
I would give this movie a 2 1/2 out of 4 because although I was intrigued it didn’t hold me captivated throughout.
