The Bachelorette – Season 8 – Episode 4 Review

This is the first two-on-one date for this season. One person stays (and gets a rose), and one person goes. So that’s always intense. Everyone is also traveling for Bermuda for this week which has all the guys excited.

Date One:

Doug. One-on-one. Let our senses lead the way. I’m happy to see Doug will be getting this date, but he’s terrible nervous and Arie wants him to leave. When all the guys were discussing about it I didn’t realize that his arms were so large. He’s just swearing so much right now and everyone is making it into a big joke. And now he’s revealed that he started a charity as well? He just keeps being better and better. He’s like a super guy.

It was really cute that Emily decided to write Doug’s son back (from when his son wrote her for the first night).

Ooh, what is Doug hiding? He keeps trying to give perfect answers instead of honest answers. I love that he turned the question on to her and the main fault was she wears pajamas all day and goes out in them to do her errands. It’s such an incredible flaw. As mum and I noted from this point of the episode, is that she’s such an interesting bachelorette. There’s story and interesting drama and she actually sounds intelligent.

Next, we are enlightened that Doug never makes the first move, and he won’t kiss Emily until she expressly tells him that she wants him to. That’s a bad move in my opinion, but oh well.

Date Two:

Charlie, Ryan, Chris, Jef, Sean, Arie, Travis, and Kalon. Group Date. Let’s set sail on the sea of love. Arie is so cute, he’s got his sweatshirt on and it’s adorable. Then Kalon has his nautical cardigan on and he’s looking prepared for sailing. And the race is on. The group is split into two smaller groups to have a sailing competition to limit the people at the evening portion. The yellow team wins with Jef, Ryan, Arie and Kalon getting to spend more time with Emily, sending home Charlie, Sean, Chris and Travis.

On the way home that night Charlie is embarrassed and crying in the car. They then cut to Emily and Arie sitting on the beach kissing and saying how they like each other and he isn’t threatened by anyone else because of what they have and I’m so happy. It’s like JP and Ashley! Jef then opens up and says how he likes her and that he hurt his finger to win time with her which she then kisses better. He doesn’t kiss her on the beach which is the only downfall of their time together, because she wants him to kiss her. *note that Emily didn’t say she wanted Doug to kiss her after that date, but wanted Jef to kiss her after their time* Ryan and Emily are next up for their one-on-one time and Ryan continues his ..interestingness. He can’t stop mentioning her looks. He’s such a Texan. Jef has now said that he’s starting to fall for Emily after getting the rose on this date.

Date Three:

John and Nate. Let’s explore this Bermuda love triangle. Two-on-one. I’m hoping for Nate to get the rose rather than John, but we shall see. I like Nate, he’s cute. Most guys in the house think that John will come home which is unfortunate. There’s a quick shot of them jumping off a cliff into the water, and then it’s nighttime and they’re going into a cave for dinner. For the most awkward dinner ever. Nate and Emily then have time on their own and he gets incredibly emotional when discussing his family and friends and it’s so cute. Emily calls him innocent, and I’m not sure if that’s really what she’s going for in so many words. Emily ends up sending Nate home because he doesn’t have the maturity that she’s looking for.

Cocktail Party:

Emily’s white jumpsuit is gorgeous. I can’t describe how much I love Jef’s outfit. He’s got Bermuda shorts and knee high socks on. He’s my favourite. All of the guys are discussing how they think Ryan should go next when he has some time with Emily. The guys all automatically call on Arie to interrupt them, so Arie gets up to help Emily and protect her. When chatting with Arie she tells him that she thinks about him all the time and that’s so cute, I’m still so supportive.

Ryan and Michael are sitting by the fire. Apparently Ryan has connections and he doesn’t care whether she chooses him or not. What are you saying Ryan? It isn’t a good thing to be saying. Doug needs to calm down with the kissing thing. He seems so worried that he has yet to kiss Emily when it really isn’t that big of a deal.

Chris begins an argument fight with Doug. Apparently Doug has said that Chris wouldn’t make a good father and also thinks he is better than him. Chris is insecure and needs to deal with that before continuing on in this journey.

People Staying:

  1. Doug – one-on-one date
  2. Jef – group date
  3. John – two-on-one date
  4. Sean
  5. Arie
  6. Travis
  7. Chris
  8. Ryan
  9. Kalon
  10. Alejandro

My Picks:

(first episode: Doug, Jef, Charlie, Travis)
(second episode: Ryan, Jef, Doug, Arie, Charlie)
(third episode: Jef, Doug, Arie)

Arie -they still seem so cute and lovey-dovey which is exciting. He seems so sure of himself in a non-competitive or cocky kind of way, just in an ‘I know my feelings for her’ kind of way.

Jef -I’m so pleased that he has started opening up to Emily and decided that he’s falling for her.

My two favourite guys have already said that they’re falling for her! YAY.

I’m not surprised that Michael is going home seeing as we didn’t see him once. I’m disappointed Charlie has left because I had him as my pick for two episodes, but oh well.

What did you think of the episode?
