Staff, volunteers and board members from Victoria ‘s Belfry Theatre have been raiding Victoria’s best wine cellars to find rare and unusual wines to auction off at Crush, the theatre’s fundraising wine event. Crush will take place on Sunday, October 27 from 5 to 8 pm at the Inn at Laurel Point, 680 Montreal Street, Victoria. Tickets, $75 (with a $25 tax receipt) are available at 250-385-6815 or online athttps://tickets.belfry.bc.ca.
At Crush, guests will enjoy fine wine tastings from some of BC’s best wineries. Inn at Laurel Point Executive Chef Takashi Ito will dazzle palates with his exquisite cuisine, paired perfectly with the fine wines poured by our vintner friends. The Joey Smith Trio will perform throughout the festivities.
The evening’s main attraction is a live Wine Auction of rare, unusual, or simply hard-to-find wines, generously donated by private donors and exclusive restaurant cellars.
Crush is hosted by sommelier Keith Nicholson, and the live auction, featuring Roshan Vickery of Kilshaw’s Auctioneers, is a remarkable theatrical experience unto itself. Both experienced oenophiles and simply lovers of good wine will find a wonderful range of spectacular wines in every price bracket.
Wine lover and writer-about-town, Robert Moyes, is preparing informally informative wine notes for the event’s auction catalogue. His notes are updated frequently and available at http://www.belfry.bc.ca/crush in advance of the event.
The evening will also feature a silent auction where guests can bid on wines, luxury dining experiences, custom travel packages, and one-of-a-kind treasures and adventures.
Proceeds from Crush support the Belfry Theatre’s ongoing operations and its mandate to produce contemporary theatre for the people of Greater Victoria. The Belfry is a non-profit registered Canadian charity.
The Inn at Laurel Point is offering Crush guests a special rate of $99 (Laurel Wing) or $149 (Erickson Wing Studio Suites) should they decide to make a weekend (October 26, 27 & 28) of the event or would prefer to stay overnight rather than drive home. Hotel reservations can be made at (250) 386-8721.
Crush is generously supported by Graham Isenegger and Neil Chappell of CIBC Wood Gundy, Heenan Blaikie, The Times Colonist, Everything Wine, Boulevard magazine and the Inn at Laurel Point.
