October Podcast Roundup

This month was a Halloween whirlwind, and I didn’t get a chance to explore as many podcasts as I would have liked. However, a new one from Night Vale Presents did get going and it’s started off pretty fun…

The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air). Although we’re only two episodes in, this new Night Vale Presents podcast is a lot of fun. It’s retro, surreal, and a fantastically bizarre 30 minutes biweekly.

Regularly Scheduled Podcasts

Grownups Read Things They Wrote As Kids. On top of getting a few laughs in as people read things in front of a live audience that they wrote when they were younger (really, it counts anything under 18 in this show), it’s also frequently heartfelt and occasionally poignant. Since every episode is live, they travel across Canada finding new people to present and listen, and they just announced a few new tour dates in Saskatchewan!

The NPR Politics Podcast has been a great way to get more information on the US presidential election, and find out about everything crazy going on. They have weekly shows year round, but as we lead up to the November 8th election there are daily shows too. Just so you know every little detail and scandal before making your choice.

Despite how much I love My Dad Wrote a Porno, I haven’t kept up with it week by week. I’m still a few chapters behind, even now, but it is SO.FUNNY. If you can’t handle a lot of awkward, impossible erotic scenes then this isn’t for you. But really, it’s the best way to while away the time.

So what did I miss? Help me curate November’s round up! What are your favourite podcasts, new or old? Are there any types of shows you’re looking to find more of (history, news, stories, etc)? Let me know, and I can start searching for some of the best. Tweet me @reviewsbylauren or comment below to get in touch.
