Critics Choice Awards & full winners list

Standard

La La Land topped the list of nominees with 12, followed by Moonlight and Arrival with 10. Awards season favourites like Manchester by the Sea, Fences, and Jackie also picked up a few nods each, with Marvel picking up for multiple entries while DC missed out big time.

Below, check out a full winners list and what this means for upcoming awards shows.

This is usually a good awards show to indicate big Oscar winners, with 8 of 10 previous years’ best picture winners continuing on to succeed at the Oscars as well. But who came out with the most wins? Unsurprisingly… it was La La Land. It won picture, screenplay, song, director – basically, a lot of them. However, neither Gosling nor Stone picked up for their respective acting categories. What does that mean? Strong likelihood that La La Land will pick up in a lot of categories, but with so many stunning performances this year it’ll be hard for them to fight their way to the front.

Marvel didn’t pick up anything in action, instead losing out to Hacksaw Ridge and Andrew Garfield. Instead, DC picked up for Suicide Squad‘s Margot Robbie. Can’t say I agree with the choice, but at least Deadpool made it’s mark in comedy, winning both best movie and actor for Ryan Reynolds. What does this mean for the rest of awards season? Not much. These aren’t the type of movies that make it very far, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Deadpool got into the Golden Globes comedy/musical category. Of course, that’s also where La La Land will end up and I wouldn’t expect Marvel’s entry to win.
