Oscars 2017 – Best Supporting Actor

Standard

Mahershala Ali is projected to win here, despite a surprise loss to Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the Golden Globes.

Our predictions and further analysis are below:

Mahershala Ali’s Moonlight performance was such a stunning, bright light it almost dulled the rest of the film. Dev Patel won the BAFTA in a surprise turn, leading him to a better chance at taking the statuette.

Bridges has 5 previous nominations and 1 win. His recent win in 2010 will likely lessen his chances at winning again so soon. Shannon also has one previous nomination.

  1. Mahershala Ali – “Moonlight”
  2. Dev Patel – “Lion”
  3. Jeff Bridges – “Hell or High Water”
  4. Lucas Hedges – “Manchester by the Sea”
  5. Michael Shannon – “Nocturnal Animals”
