VTSL brings new take on HBO series in their newest show Western World

Vancouver TheatreSports League’s (VTSL) improvisers are Hosts to a new, imaginative show at The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Inspired by the HBO series Westworld, this parody relies on audience suggestions to set the scenes and drive the action every Thursday through Saturday evening.

Robert (or Roberta) Ford guides each evening with a totally new ‘episode.’ First, you’ll get some orientation in this world. “Who are these hosts? Where do they come from? What roles do they play? Where is Western World?” They’re typical questions that only the Guests (audience) can answer.

In the first half of the show, guests help craft the Hosts into recreations of their first renditions – from a scene of Sean Connery impersonations on opening night, you know it’ll be a fun evening. And after that intermission, get ready for Guest participation and a more full-bodied story.

This show was a great mix for anyone who enjoys (or loves to hate) any classic western movie, or those more familiar with the Westworld series. You’ll encounter classic, stock scenarios and characters like shootouts and sheriffs, or cowboys and corals. Even if you’re like me and have never seen Westworld, this is a great show.

Join VTSL for an evening of ‘laughs without limits’ Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm fromApril 6 through May 13 at VTSL’s home, The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Tickets on sale now.
