La Merda comes to the Cultch for Canadian premiere

Internationally acclaimed Italian performer, Silvia Gallerano, brings Christian Ceresoli’s award-winning hit La Merda to the Historic Theatre as part of an international tour.

Direct from its trailblazing sell-out runs in Rome, London, Edinburgh, Copenhagen, Sao Paulo, Madrid and Adelaide, La Merda, Cristian Ceresoli’s acclaimed hit production, make its Canadian premiere at The Cultch as part of its world tour May 2 through 7.

Winner of The Scotsman Fringe First and Stage newspaper Best Actress Award, legendary Italian actress Silvia Gallerano presents Cristian Ceresoli’s provocative feminist script. La Merda is a rapid fire proclamation mapping the dark and sometimes disturbing train of thought of a young woman obsessed with finding fame at any cost. She sings and howls a stream of consciousness that reveals – with rage and poetry – revolting human secrets, and a modern society that is powerful, desperate, vulnerable, and cutting. In a three part monologue, all performed completely naked, Gallerano’s compelling rants probe the depth of modern society, politics, mental health, female sexuality, and the patriarchy. This powerful, angry and urgent play is truly shocking, brilliant and unmissable.
