Join Vancouver TheatreSports™ (VTS) for seasonal mirth and merriment from Wednesday, November 21 to Monday, December 24 as the ‘VTS Channel’ presents Merry Kiss-mas – an improvised holiday comedy that parodies all the inane clichés and funny, awkward moments you would expect to see in any popular holiday TV special or film. A new holiday tradition from Vancouver TheatreSports™ Merry Kiss-mas is a celebration of these sappy, warm-hearted and cheesy (but kind of fun) movies we all love to watch during the holiday season.
Utilizing short form scenarios and audience suggestions, the first half of the show is a nostalgic look at some of the most popular holiday TV shows and films from the past. VTS improvisers will use the suggestions to create their comedic versions of scenes and characters from these much beloved holiday specials.
The second half of the show is a completely improvised, original holiday special featuring all the tropes you would expect to see such as: boy (or a prince) meets girl (or princess); disapproving parent steps in; and boy loses girl/boy wins girl back; or some rendering of this typical story. Once again, audience suggestions play a huge role in determining the characters as well as the ‘movie’ location and plotline. The ending, of course, is always a happy one, but how we get there is where all the fun and laughs are to be found.
Merry Kiss-mas is suitable for families with children ages seven and up. Visit www.vtsl.com for a full list of performance dates, times and ticket prices.
